Planning Kids' Birthday Parties

Some parents go all out when it comes to kids birthday parties, and others don’t give it too much thought until the kids are older. When planning a party for kids of any age, you have to think about the little things. One thing that my friend always did for her kids was come up with a really neat favor bag that all of the kids can take home with them once the party is over. This is just one small touch that can make a birthday party memorable and a lot of fun for those attending.

If you have a theme for your kids birthday parties, you can easily work that into the favor bags. If your party has the Wiggles or Spongebob, you can add little trinkets that have the same theme. Spongebob is easier to find than the Wiggles of course, but if you think about the shows, you can think of things to include. Most kids know that Greg from the Wiggles likes magic, so you could give out a small magic trick kit for your kids birthday parties favor bags.

If you don’t have a theme for your kids birthday parties, you don’t have much to go on, but that doesn’t mean filling a favor bag has to be hard. You do have to be sure you get some that are for girls and some that are for boys. Though both will like some of the same things, there are different things made just for each. You could add some play rings and necklaces for the girls, and perhaps some matchbox size cars for the boys. Those things seem cliché, but they work and are often just right for both. Also remember to limit the amount of sugar you include. Many parents are not thrilled to see a favor bag full of candy. A few pieces is usually fine though.

Whether you want to give out your favor bags at the beginning, middle, or the end of kids birthday parties is up to you of course. If you give them out during the party, you do run the risk of the children losing interest in the party and diving into the bags. That is why most prefer to give them out at the end of the party. That way the children are participating in the party, and they have something to do on the way home after a long day. They also have less of a chance of losing half of what is in the bag.
