Getting Family Health Care

There are many who need family health care that simply don’t have access to it. They may be able to get it through their employer, but more and more plans require the employee to pay in each week, and that money can mean the difference between family coverage and paying the bills. Though it is never fair that anyone should have to make that choice, the sad fact is that there are families that must to that every day. I often wonder if health care is so expensive because we have to have it, or is the fact that so many can’t pay the reason the treatments are so high?

We don’t have full family health care just yet. My husband and I are both covered by his insurance. This coverage by his company was once free to us as a benefit of his job. Now, we must pay in a small amount each week in order to keep our family health care package. We are going to adopt our niece very soon. Because we have not adopted her just yet, she cannot be added to our policy. When she is adopted she will be included, but the money that will come out of our pocket will go up.

I consider us lucky, even though we have to pay some of the costs. There was a time not to long ago when we did not have this option. We have had insurance on and off through different jobs, but the family health care plan we have now is a very good one, and I know there are many who simply cannot get it. It is very expensive to get it on your own, and many people simply can’t afford it, and instead, are left to pray that nothing goes wrong with anyone in their family.

If you don’t have family health care through your employer, you can buy it on your own. You are going to pay a lot for it, but you may think that this is something that you must do. I know that it’s important, but I’m not even sure we could afford it if it were not for my husband’s company. There are lower cost plans out there for family health care plans, but you have to read the fine print to see what they will cover and what you pay for, and also check on your deductibles. You may find with such high deductibles, it’s not worth the low price after all.
